David Ryle

The photographic work of David Ryle caught my attention today.
It should be said that although Audi cars appeal to me greatly (admittedly, I am more of a motorbike enthusiast), this had nothing to do with why I appreciate Mr.Ryle's work. His landscape work, for example, is rather pleasing to say the least, but of course, I chose to show the obvious. Anyway, goes without saying that it's well worth popping over to his site and exploring further.

Holy Heck

Quite liked some of the projects from Holy Heck, otherwise known as the portfolio of recent graduate, Bethany Heck.

From Us With Love

I was curious enough, and perhaps to my amusement, to stumble upon this exhibition (held at Nordiska Museet, Stockholm) all about the modern day 'Dandy' no less. Anyway, on closer inspection I realise the creative curation was brought about by Swedish design group From Us With Love, who have been involved in a number of other rather interesting projects, which needless to say are very much worth delving into.

5 vs Five vs FIVE vs Channel 5

The last few years have provided us with a wealth of controversial, not to mention rather ugly identity refreshes, and the latest to report is the new Channel 5 identity (above image: bottom right). Yes, it's a bit of a shocker.

It seemed liked no time at all when we first saw Dixon Baxi's more than respectable effort compared to the last iteration. But of course that's to be expected in today's fast moving market; brands need to constantly evolve to reflect their current position and remain competitive. But you'd think that when some these big brands invest so much in all their other brand and marketing assets, they would at least consider the aesthetic a little more than they do. Perhaps there's an argument that the aesthetic achieves little more than vanity in the marketing world. To some extent that may even be true, but regardless shouldn't everything evolve to a better state?

Anyway, if you care to look back, here's a little Channel 5 brand history.
